      Background
      • The national rail transport industry has developed rapidly for the last five (5) years with investment of around RM160 billion until 2030.  Some of the approved rail transport projects by the government include Mass Rapid Transit 2 (MRT 2), Light Rapid Transit 3 (LRT 3), Gemas-Johor Bahru Electrification and Double-Tracking  and Klang Valley Depot Terminal (KVDT).
      • This industry has provided 30,000 job opportunities in all national rail transport industry segments covering its railway constructions, signalling communication, power and electrification, rolling stocks and trains and railways maintenance.
      • Universiti Kuala Lumpur Asia-Rail Institute (Asia-Rail) was established in 23 March 2016 as one of under MARA subsidiaries specifically to provide the industry’s support system and to produce skill workers while leading its Human Capital Development (HCD) in the rail-transport industry, nationally and globally
      • MRVEX is designed to empower (T2) ten (10) Bumiputera vendors in rail transport industry in their  companies capability and capacity through strategic trainings and courses provided by MARA with the collaboration from Keretapi Tanah Melayu (KTBM) and Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL)
      Objectives
      • To empower Bumiputera vendors in the rail-transport industry;
      • To establish strategic collaborations with respective industry players in providing more business and job opportunities;
      • To ensure KTMB certification for the vendors.
      Target Groups

      Criteria for rail vendor:

      1. A wholly owned Private Limited Company (Pte. Ltd);
      2. A full-time business operation with experience in managing rail-transport projects;
      3. At least 2 years of experience in the rail-transport field.
      Outcome
      • 20%-30% increase of income;
      • More than 200 job opportunities generated for Bumiputera;
      • 10 fully KTMB certified Bumiputera vendors will be industry-ready for 2020
